Zygor Guides, for quite sometime now has been the No 1 leveling guide for World of Warcraft, but even the best have a few small shortfalls. There were a few instances with the guide where people found that once they had completed the allotted quests for a level, they would be left short of XP and would have to grind a small amount to ding. That’s where John Cook the author and his little elves went to work. Listening to what people wanted and reworking his guides to accommodate.
Why was grinding ever a part of Zygor Guides? Well I think it may have been something to do with the way John Cook the author levelled. He would have leveled very much like every other speed leveller. This entails not only completing quests but also killing everything in they’re path.
Many of the players who utilise Zygor Guides, did not follow the same techniques as power levelers and simply rush through completing quest after quest. By not killing mobs on the way and making the most of the XP they would gain, they would find themselves short of experience and have to grind to that next level.
Well all that is now in the past since the peeps at Zygor Guides have been busy at work, rewriting any and all grinding out of the guide. Your path to level 80 is now 100% grind free and quicker than ever. Both the Horde and Alliance guides have had the magic worked on them.
Levels 13 to 60 are now totally reworked to contain zero grinding. There were also some value errors in both guides which have been fixed. The guide window has also received some tweaks, meaning that now you can click things behind the guide window (transparency added). To move the guide window you now have to click the title bar, which also now has a lock button, This can be used to lock the guide in place, if required. Finally if you want to scan through the steps of the guide you can now do so by using your mouse wheel.
I am sure that most of these improvements’ are down to the users of the guide. They stated where they felt it fell a little short at times and John Cook and his band of merry players went to work. This shows the quality of the guide and its makers. The simple fact that they took on board what people want and then went out and reworked they’re product towards that requirement. As the saying goes “the proof is in the pudding” and on both, levelling terms and customer services Zygor Guides comes up trumps and proves it is second to none in both categories.
This is a very quick and easy process, nothing to get hot and bothered about at all. Quite a few people get hung up on this but really if you can operate a mouse you can definitely do this. It should take you around 5 mins and then your off and away?. You see though we call it “installing the guide”, your not really installing anything. All you are doing is copying and pasting files into your World of Warcraft directory. It really is that simple.
Right so you have access to the members area of Zygor Guides. Now download it to a memorable place, somewhere like the desktop is an easy option. You can always move it later to your documents folder or similar. I chose the desktop because you’d be surprised at how many people down load files from the net and forget which folder they are saving to. Many people download files to they’re computer and once it finishes can’t find them. The desktop is an easy option, so download to there.
With the guide now safely located in a zip file on your desktop. It’s time to find the Addons folder where they will be placed. Click on start, then navigate to C drive. Within C drive you will see a folder called program files, click it. Now scroll down until you see your World of Warcraft file. Click that, and look for the interface folder. Now within the interface folder you will find the addons folder, open this up, ready for the Zygor Guides files.
Right with that done and the addon folder ready and open, go back to the downloaded zip file containing Zygor Guides, it should be on your desktop. Click on it, to open it up. Now within the folder you will see several files, drag your mouse around these folders to highlight them. Once they are highlighted, you need to click and drag these files over into the awaiting addons folder. There is another way to do this and that is to, open the zip file, highlight all the files contained. If you then look you will see a tab above the files called “Extract to”. Click this and it will bring up a small window, all you have to do is navigate through to the addons folder and then click ok. This will also place the files there.
The Guide is now fully Installed. No fuss and took all of 5 mins to complete. Your now ready to start up Wow and se what it looks like. Remember, you can also play around with the settings of the guide, since it is fully customizable but that’s another article. Have fun with your new toy, your going to love it I guarantee.
Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide and Zygor Guides, have been spouted as the leanest and meanest guides for World of Warcraft out there to date. But what really separates the two guides and makes one more preferable to the other. With this in mind lets take a short look at the basics the two guides offer and who comes out on top.
The two guides here offer an amazing level of detail and explanation. They also deliver it via blisteringly fast leveling routes. But with Joana’s guide it was developed using a Hunter. This may not seem like anything to be concerned about, but to be honest if you are looking to replicate the leveling speed of Joana then you are forced to roll a hunter. The guide does not really give consideration to other classes within the game.
Zygor Guides have been tested on every class known in World of Warcraft. It has been designed just to do this. Another thing that was achieved is that Zygor Guides have even taken into account the exact race you choose. How great is that? All the quests the player decides to take are attainable. It does not matter if you are a Warrior or a Warlock. The winner so far is Zygor Guides 1 and Joana’s Guide is still at 0.

Sadly when it comes to Joana’s Horde Guide, as is mentioned in the name, it is solely reserved for the horde faction. There is no Joana Guide for the Alliance, where as Zygor Guides supplies coverage of both.
This next comparison can’t really be called a comparison. That’s because Zygor Guides is the only guide out there that supplies it. This concerns the class quests. Every class within Wow has quests assigned specifically for them to do. Completing these is pivotal to the development of your character, yet all other guides to date exclude them. Why? The reason being, they are a nightmare to fit in. What with the number of classes within the game and the disruption they would cause to a normal leveling path many guides leave them out. But not Zygor Guides, they have gone that extra mile to include these all important quests and done so with great success.
To come to a conclusion, you have to make your own mind up. Joana’s Horde Guide is an excellent resource and even though here, I have made it look as if it is lacking in many areas, it’s not really fair. Because at this moment in time, there is no guide whether paid or free, out there that even comes close to the functionality of Zygor Guides. But I will leave the decision to you and what ever you choose wish you good luck and happy gaming.

Zygors does this seamlessly, no matter what class or race you pick the guide will adjust itself by recognising your character. It then alters the guide to include all of your required class quests. Cool!!! to say the least. Also I better mention that all the starter areas are covered.
Zygor Guides is like your own little power leveler, who’s sitting over your shoulder watching your every move. Has soon as you have completed a task or quest it automatically updates, not requiring you to click a button that says next steps, as so many other guides require. To be honest the only thing it doesn’t do while I’m playing Wow is go make me a cup of coffee lol. At the end of the day, you start using it and end up wondering, how the hell you managed without it. If 1 to 80 in 7 days, seems like an impossibility, then believe me, to those without Zygor Guides, it is.
Most new players make the mistake of playing! You will need to learn to control yourself while playing, and use your head when deciding what hands to play. You should study some starting hand charts, and try to limit the hands that you play because playing more hands, usually means LOSING more hands
9. Booze is not a performance enhancer
I love a drunk at the tables. Not for their sparkling conversation skills, or enchanting scent. No I like a drunk at the table because I like their money. They get sloppier, and louder with every hand, so they make all kinds of stupid mistakes, like going into the hand with nothing, bluffing when there isn’t a decent reason to, and they get distracted and go on tilt much easier. If we play together someday, feel free to drink as much as you want.
8. Bluffing – Just to say you did
When you bluff, you must be confident, and make your opponent question their hand. If one of your opponents always plays to the showdown, don’t try to bluff him out. Bluffing will only work on certain players in certain positions, and the better you are at identifying those situations, the more successful your bluffing will be.
7. Don’t stay in the hand just because you’re in it all ready
Beginners are notorious for throwing their money away. Some seem to think that if they keep putting money in the pot their cards will magically become the winning hand. This is simply not the case. Everyone makes mistakes while playing poker, even the pros, but knowing when to fold is a talent that will never be wasted. You should be comfortable with losing a tiny bit of your stack here and there, if it saves you from making a major mistake by being lured into placing a significant portion of your chips into the pot with pocket twos. Always keep in mind what you have already placed in the pot in comparison to your next bet.
6. Don’t call at the end of a hand to “keep someone honest”.
Occasionally you’ll know you’re beaten, and bet anyway just to see the other players hand and gain some insight on how they played the hand. This will more often than not just end up costing you more money than it had to. If you feel like you are going to lose, or are going to be bullied into placing an exorbitant amount of money into the pot just cut your losses, and fold your hand. If you feel that your opponent actually has the hand they are representing they have, why would you want to increase their stack of chips and lower yours? Will losing even more money make you feel better for losing the hand? No? Then be glad you had the sense to back out, when you did.
5. Don’t play if your angry, sad, or in an over emotional state
