Lots of people think video gaming is not a healthy leisure hobby for children, or anybody for that matter. They feel that video gaming is just another excuse to be a couch potato in front of the TV screen.
Staying inactive is not healthy way of life and fortunately, as people are realizing the negative effects of latency, so too are video game creators. The most notable push toward uniting physical activity with gaming being the introduction of the Wii Console.
The Wii Console enables gamers to literally “get in” the game with the introduction of motion-sensitive controllers that record a players actions on 3 planes; try multi-dimensional game play.
Additionally, the wii allows users to create their own mini character called the “Mii” which can be designed any way the player sees fit.
In terms of games that suit this style of gaming and get people moving, Wii gamers can enjoy dance games such as Dance Dance Revolution, sports games like Mario Super Sluggers, We Ski and Tiger Woods Golf and even fitness programs like Wii Fit.
All in all, physical gaming is a welcome change for a world that becomes ever increasingly sedentary and out of shape. Next step- Virtual Reality gaming! Won’t that be a treat! :p
