When you know someone graduating from high school, it is an exciting and emotional time. It can be a really busy time with lots of plans to be made. It is important to congratulate the graduate with a gift of some sort. Sometimes it can be hard to think of what an appropriate graduation gift is. One idea is to get the individual a refurbished computer. A used computer is a practical gift for someone who is either about to enter the workforce or go on to higher education; and because it isn’t brand new, it won’t be nearly as expensive. There are numerous options for a graduation present, though.
If the individual is planning on going to college, you could put together a basket of college must-haves. Take a laundry basket or hamper and stock it with items for dorm life. Some ideas for the basket are quarters for laundry, ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese, flip flops, bath robe, and other items. This is a cute and creative way to give a practical gift that will prepare the individual for the next year.
Sending the individual on a trip is an amazing idea for a gift. Lots of individuals want to go on some sort of vacation after graduating from high school. Discuss with the graduate where he or she would like to go and then discuss what is financially feasible. Paying for a part of the trip, or buying the plane ticket to where ever it is that they want to go is a thoughtful gift for graduation. Similar to the dorm life basket, you could give a travel kit specialized for the location the person choose if you cannot afford to pay for the trip or they already paid for it. You could buy them a passport holder, a translation book for the language spoken in the area, a travel guide, a calling card to reach home, and a number of other items.
If you are really stumped on a gift idea, you could always offer to help pay for a party to celebrate the graduation. A graduation party can seem like a very expensive endeavor, but there are thrifty ways of making it happen. By having the party at your house and providing the food, there is barely any cost. It can be simple to create a lovely celebration.
A monetary gift is an appropriate gift if you decide there is nothing you want to purchase for the individual. If you take the time to write a heartfelt card or letter, the money won’t even be the real gift. A lot of people feel as though money is not a legitimate gift option; however, recent graduates are entering a period of life where extra money is a good thing.
