Just before the release of the new Playstation 3 Slim, back in September 2009, Sony were actually beginning to worry over PS3 sales. The lead rivals; Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360, wereboth outselling the system alongwith their own software. The problem was attributed to Sony’s refusal to move on the large price ticket, and the other consoles became well-liked due to increased afforability. Sony’s luck then changed quite significantly however, with the release of the new Playstation 3 Slim.
This revamp isnot an alternative model, the new Playstation 3 Slim has totally replaced the older systems and thus is seen as the sole official Playstation 3 console. As with the last, the system is available in both 120GB or 250GB, offering buyers the same options in capacity as before. Further additions include EasyLink, which improves the HDMI capacities of both your Playstation and the television it is connected to.
As the name might advocates, the Playstation 3 slim is a lot more conservative and space-friendly than what its progenitor is. It is over 30% smaller and lighter; a welcome instigation as the scale of the first was always a sore point. Furthermore, the reduced scale also consumes much less power, which suggests the system won’t heat up as fast. Overheating was never a huge issue for the original, especially compared to rivals, but a cooler system amounts to a better system.
And lastly, Sony issued a reallylarge price cut on the system. Clearly what the public was ready for, sales rocketed in the Autumn and Sony were well and truly back in the race. The Playstation 3 Slim console presents a really smart and unified step up for the company- promoting the same awesome system in a smaller, more user friendly compack package and slashinh the price makes everybody really happy- Sony get their sales and we get a new and improved system!
